My Little Picasso

Brylie loves to color. And, until recently, she was really good about only coloring in her coloring books or on paper I gave her. This morning Brylie went upstairs and closed her bedroom door which means she is taking care of business in her diaper, so I didn't really worry about what she may be doing. Well she came downstairs with this artwork on her hand and it had smudged to her face. Well I didn't remember her having this shade of red as a marker so I immediately ran upstairs to find what she had done this with. As I'm giving her the speech about having to take away her colors because she is coloring on things she isn't suppose to, she points out she colored on her bed.

And her paintbrush of choice....Yes a red sharpie marker. I thought I had hidden all of the permanent markers pretty well. Guess not. All I really could do was laugh and take comfort in the fact that the sheets weren't expensive and that most of the marker came off so it wouldn't be her makeup job for being Sleeping Beauty tonight.

Two Month Update

Yesterday was Beckam's 2 month check-up. He is definitely a growing machine. He now weighs 14 lbs. 2 oz. and is 24 inches long. My 2 month old weighs half of what my 2 year old does. The pediatrician was nice enough to point out if he continues to grow like this he will definitely be taller then Brandon and myself. I think she was holding back from saying he will tower over us. I was just happy to know everything is going fine and he is a perfect two month old.

Beckam's Blessing

This past Sunday we blessed Beckam. Brandon did a great job and Beckam behaved himself. I want to thank everyone who came to participate in this day. For those of you who were unable to make it, here are some pictures. As a side note, Brylie wouldn't take any pictures. The one I posted was the best and we couldn't get her to pose for a family one.

Year Anniversary

A year ago today I started my life as a full time stay at home mom. October 22, 2006 was my last day working full time in the corporate world. I was now going to be home all day everyday with my almost 18 month old daughter. It was something I had wanted since before she was born, but at the same time not sure how I would handle it. I had no idea how hard but rewarding it would be. Working full time holds nothing to being a stay at home mom. Reasoning with a two year old takes skills I never had to use with stressed out adults. At meals adults take whatever you hand them, not so with a two year old. At the same time, none of my work assignments held the joy watching my children learn/discover something new does. Nothing clears my ills like a smile from one of my children. My exhaustion is washed away when I hear "I love you Mommy," from Brylie or a smile and coo from Beckam. There are times when the ease of my old job may appeal to me, but at the same time I wouldn't trade what I am now for anything. Here is to every stay at home mom out there. We are a brave and blessed group!!

Fun Friday

This past Friday I knew Brylie needed to get out of the house before the weather turned nasty for the weekend. Our friends across the street, Viv and Britton, were going to Gardner Village and asked if we wanted to tag along. I knew Brylie would like seeing the witches and possibly going on a pony ride so I jumped at the chance. Despite a little drama with a dead car battery, we made it to our little outing and Brylie had a blast. She miraculously posed happily with a couple of witches and went on a pony ride all by herself.

She also really enjoyed the little petting zoo they had there.

I was thankful for the readily available hand sanitizer. Beckam just chilled in his stroller.

When it was time to go, Brylie wasn't too happy, but we had another outing planned. We met Brandon Friday night after work at Thanksgiving Point to go to the pumpkin patch and possibly the maze at Cornbelly's. We didn't make it to the maze but hit everything other possible kid thing there. Brylie was in heaven with all of the room to run around, the kid area to play in, the cow train (see pictures), all of the slides, and the bouncy area. As we were leaving we got a couple of pictures of Brandon and Brylie as animals. All I can say is I love being behind the camera. It was a fun filled day and hopefully one Brylie will continue to talk about.

2 Months

Another month has flown past and now Beckam is 2 months old. It is hard for this mom to believe that just two months ago (almost to the minute) this not so little anymore guy came into the world. He is now smiling and having "conversations" with anyone who will talk to him. One of his favorite things to look at is the musical sun on his play mat. He is discovering his hands and at times they get in the way of him being able to eat. He is growing and changing like crazy. His 2 month appointment is in a couple of weeks and I'm really interested to see what that brings.

Look who's 30!

My dear sweet husband has hit the big 30. I'm not far behind so I really can't say much about how old that is. With the BYU vs UNLV game being this past weekend in Las Vegas, we headed there to celebrate this milestone. Brandon's birthday was actually Friday, but it got a little lost in all of the hustle and bustle of traveling and such. We did get to go to a great steak house to eat with my parents without the kids. It was great food and nice to have some adult only time. On Saturday we made sure to do a little family celebrating of this big event. Brandon hates frosting so he got a birthday pumpkin pie. Right as I had all of the candles lit and we were ready to start singing, Brylie decided to be helpful and blew out half of the candles.

After a quick singing of Happy Birthday, Brandon and Brylie blew out the rest of the candles. A quick celebration followed and then it was off to the game. We were hoping to take Brylie, but she opted to stay home and play with her cousins and Aunt Lindsay. Even though she is a big Cougar fan and proud to wear her cougar shirt, she could not be swayed.

The game was fun as always. We went with my dad, sisters Cari and Shelby, brother Ryan and his wife Kerri. We were surrounded by fellow BYU fans and loved that they beat UNLV. We also enjoyed not having to entertain and run after any kids. Thanks again Mom and Lindsay for watching the kids. This weekend was the perfect way to celebrate Brandon's 30th birthday! Here's to many more great birthdays Hon!

Where's Brylie?

I went to check on Brylie to see if she had actually fallen asleep for a nap one day and this is what I saw. It took a few seconds but I found her. This girl loves her stuffed animals.

Not Forgotten

I would like to take this moment to say Happy Birthday Mom, and apologize for a missed call. I need to start doing things when I think about them, not for a moment when they will slip my over crazed mind. If she happens to read this before getting my call, know that you were not forgotten on your special day. My mind just didn't work how I would have liked later last night. But knowing my mom, she won't think anything of it and just be happy for a call anytime to just chat. And, I love those chats! We may have not always gotten along, but now I don't know what I'd do with out her. She is a source of comfort and support and the best mom. I love ya Mom!
