This says it all

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but the only way I know my kids are mine when they are little (babies) is because I pushed them out of my body. The first thing I noticed about Brylie when she was born were her nostrils, they were the same as Brandon's. With Beckam, everyone says he looks like Brandon. I take a little comfort that Brylie is starting to resemble me somewhat now that she is a little older.

Blue vs Red Showdown

The lines have been drawn for the whole football season. This year the line was drawn between houses and not as a circle around one neighbor. Our friends and neighbors Randy and Viv are moving, so as a final neighbor hurrah we invited them over to watch the biggest game of the season, the BYU vs U of U game. As you can see the line was still drawn in our house. The red fans seemed to stay on one side of the room and the blue fans on the other.

The red fans did have to cross into our territory when they wanted food. Brylie and Britton did set a good example and forgot the intense rivalry of the two sides and played nicely together.

Luckily there weren't too many questionable calls or plays so we were all able to keep things pretty low key. Viv did try to get Brylie to go to the dark side of Utah, but Brylie knew where she belonged (as was shown later when we were at the mall and she kept chanting "Utah stinks").

The excitement was great, especially in the last few minutes, so some took naps. Probably not the ones who really needed them. but we'll take what we can.

In the end BYU won 17 to Utah 10. Our Utah fan visitors accepted the loss graciously and our friendship is in tact.

It was a great way to watch the game and a very fun thing to do with our friends. Just one last thing....

Thanksgiving

This year we were able to spend Thanksgiving with Brandon's family. We ate dinner at his parents house with 2 of his brothers, his sister, his parents, and a sister-in-law. Two of Brylie's cousins were there also. We were a little late but there was still plenty to eat when we got there. Brylie of course didn't want to eat and just wanted to play with her cousin Bridger. Bridger tried to tell her it was time to eat dinner, but she wasn't having any of it. Beckam slept long enough for Brandon and I to load up our plates and then joined us at the dinner table. We had a lot of fun eating and visiting with family. A little bit later that night Brandon's other brother and his wife and three kids came over to join the party. We normally go bowling on Thanksgiving, but after a long day of cooking and everything else, the desire wasn't there. So instead we played a game that is always play when we get together called chicken foot.

Beckam slept through that excitement and Brylie with her cousins played with some of Grandpa Jim's hats.


We lasted as long as the kids would allow and then headed home. It was a great Thanksgiving. I love this time of year and have much to be thankful for. I don't have enough space or time to list all of them but a few of the highlighted ones are...

3 Months

Another month has passed and Beckam is now three months old. The picture shows what a big boy he is. He is my mister chunkalunk. When we had him at the doctors for his bronciolitis he weighed 15 pounds. He now is a smiling machine and "talks" all the time. He wants to see everything that is going on around him. If you are holding him, he wants to either be sitting straight up or standing, no cradle hold for this guy. He likes to play with everyone and is batting away at his toys on his play mat. Before we know it, he'll be reaching for and grabbing anything in his reach. We love this big guy to bits.

Nap Time

Today we had a break through in our house. Both of my kids put themselves to bed, well one to bed and both to sleep. Brylie was throwing one of her fits so I sent her to her room. Beckam wouldn't go to sleep with me holding him and just kept crying, so I put him in his crib. Well low and behold Beckam went to sleep. I really expected him to start crying after a couple of minutes. And I went to check on Brylie to make sure she had calmed down and have a little chat and she was under her covers asleep. Now I know that Beckam can go to sleep on his own and Brylie does sometimes listen to me. It's turned out to be a good afternoon. That is until they wake up.

Shut in

So for the past five days or so Beckam and I have been stuck in our house. It also explains why I've been a little out of it with posting. Beckam came down with a cough on Sunday afternoon. Because of his age and with the cough not going away or getting better I took him to the doctor on Monday. Well we came home with a diagnosis of Bronchiolitis and prescription for albuterol, the nebulizer showed up a few hours later. It was also great fun to hear from the doctor that half of the babies with this end up in the hospital and one in three will have asthma. To try and keep either of these from happening and to try and keep him comfortable, I've been giving Beckam albuterol treatments about ever four hours and doing a lot of Beckam holding. Lucky for Brylie Brandon's family lives fairly close by and Grandma Jill came to pick her up for a day of playing with cousins on Tuesday. Brylie has been a trooper and I have kept my sanity by running errands as soon as Brandon walks through the door the last couple of nights. Beckam does seem to be on the mend. Yesterday he seemed to have an appetite back and slept without me holding him for a good stretch during the afternoon. For those of you who wonder, we are getting almost the normal amount of sleep at night. I don't know how, but by some miracle Beckam has continued to sleep during the night. Now if I could just say that about Brylie.

Halloween Festivities

So I haven't been the best about posting about Halloween so here is one big one for everything our family did. We started out by going to Thanksgiving point and getting some pumpkins. We got enough to have a family of pumpkins and one left over to let Brylie paint. We gutted the suckers, but before we had time to finish carving them, they went a little mushy. So needless to say, the only time we had enough pumpkins to represent everyone in our family was before we cut into them. We also went to the ward Halloween party the night before we blessed Beckam. We dressed the kids up, Brylie as Sleeping Beauty and Beckam as a dragon. Brylie once again didn't want to take pictures and I guess my camera agreed because it ran out of juice right before I took some pictures of Beckam.




Luckily Halloween was just a few days later and we had a full day planned. First we went to Brandon's office to trick or treat. Brylie made a killing and even went back for seconds to a couple of the offices. We took a basket for Beckam so Brandon got a ton of candy as well. Brylie posed a little better for pictures at Brandon's office, so we actually have decent pictures of our Sleeping Beauty. We then stopped by Grandma Chatfield's for a few minutes. Brylie got more candy and told how cute she was. She of course readily agreed. We got home and before we could get in the house to unload Brylie's loot, she ran across the street to our friends Randy, Viv, and Britton. We were lucky enough to join up with them and do some trick or treating were we once again got tons of candy. With all of this candy in the house the season of sweets has officially kicked off and my sugar level will never be the same again. oh and for the yellow coat, I thought on of us should be reflective/seen by the cars.
