We saw the light

Yesterday we actually went on a walk with out having to get all bundled up in winter gear. The sun was out, the wind wasn't blowing, and the high was 51. This kind of day is what I have been needing for awhile and hoping that it is bringing Spring and not just toying with me. When I mentioned a walk Brylie jumped right on board, went upstairs and grabbed her stroller, and we were off. Granted it was a short walk, but better then another day stuck inside. Today is much like yesterday and if this keeps up, I won't be retreating to Las Vegas even though their high is in the high 70's. But if the highs here dip back down close to freezing, I don't care that packing up two kids is kind of a pain, I'll be heading to where the sun is almost guaranteed to shine.

Winter, Winter, Go Away

I am now stating with certainty I am ready for winter to be over. I am done with this winter and would love to shove it out the door. My picket sign is raised high and hoping my chant for winter to go away will work. What has brought me to this little tirade? I have a sick kid yet again. This time Brylie has the flu with a croup cough. (I say cough because it isn't full blown croup since it's not in her lungs.) I didn't even know the doctor could test and see if what she had was flu, but I guess they do. She had her flu shot in October, but it didn't cover this strain of flu. I told Brandon I am ready to pack up and go to Las Vegas for the rest of winter in an attempt to not have the kids get sick anymore. I can handle the common cold or even a fever once in a while. But the full blown serious sicknesses that have seemed to plaque our house this year have now become to much. Winter needs to go away and take all of its sicknesses with it.

Fun day with Wild Animals

Yesterday we spent a fun few hours with wild animals, and miraculously one of the wild animals was not Brylie. Good Things Utah arranged a play date at the zoo which included watching the white alligator be fed. He only eats about once every two weeks so this was a big deal. When they talked about the play date on the show Viv called and asked if we were planning on going. After being stuck inside for the last while, I was up for it. The weather cooperated and we had a really great time. Seeing the white alligator was one of the first things we saw, but since strollers weren't allowed in and I had to carry Beckam and keep track of Brylie, pictures were just not going to happen. (If you want to see pictures and video of the alligator visit my friends Vivien's blog.) Some of the animals were inside due to the cold weather, but the ones that were out were fun to see. The zoo has been running a commercial about how the big cats are more active in the winter and it is true. The cats we see in the summer that are doing nothing or napping were up walking around and putting on a great show. My favorite was the tiger. Brylie was just happy to be at the zoo.

Beckam was quite the trooper and just chilled in his stroller. He even got in a nap.
I can't wait for the temperature to warm up just a little bit and Beckam to be a little bit older so he might enjoy more to make another trip to the zoo. We had so much fun.

I blinked

Beckam coming home from the hospital Beckam six months old

I blinked and now my little new baby is six months old. I don't know where the time has gone. When he came home a newborn, I didn't think the day would ever come when he would sleep through the night or smile or entertain himself. Before I knew it all of that had happened and I vaguely remember the sleepless nights and not being able to ever put him down. Now he is working on sitting up by himself for more then a minute or two. Nothing within his reach is now safe and he lets us know when he isn't happy something isn't within his reach. He is interested in everything he sees. His new favorite toy is the remote. His smile and squeals are constant. He is such a happy guy and adds so much to our family. His six month check is in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to see how big he is now.

Brylie's Valentine's Fun

Brylie really got in to Valentine's Day this year. She got a special card for Brandon and gave it to him before work. Then throughout the day, she pretended other things were cards and kept handing them out to Beckam and me. Once in awhile she would keep one for herself and pretend someone had given it to her. And since the weather was a lot nicer then the night before and most of the snow had melted, we went on a playdate with our good friend Viv and Britton to Discovery Gateway. Viv had told me how great this place was before but I had no idea. After spending two hours there and then having to drag my screaming child home (and it wasn't my six month old), I'm wondering why it took me so long to bring Brylie here. It was so nice to just let her run around and not have to worry about what she might be touching. We went and saw the Sesame Street exhibit they have right now which was a big hit.
Then we went downstairs to Kiddie Land and Brylie couldn't get enough of it. She also had so much fun doing things with Britton.
Now I know what I can bribe her with the next time I need her to be good...Discovery Gateway with Britton. In a few more months Beckam will have fun there to. This time he just chilled in his stroller.

When Brandon got home from work Brylie got a couple of more Valentine's Day surprises. She got a Dora card with stickers (stickers are one of her favorite things), some foam sticker letters, and a flower. She may not have a honey of her own, but she definitely had a great Valentine's Day.

My Valentine

(This pictures actually resembles the flowers I was first sent six years ago.)
It was six years ago tomorrow that I received flowers from Brandon for the first time. He knew I was going to be out of town for work on Valentine's Day so he sent them the day after. I think this is what got the ball rolling for us deciding to finally take the step to be eternal valentines. We weren't each others "official" valentine's that year, but we have now been officially each others Valentines for five years and it's been great. I'm looking forward to many more to come!! In honor of the day and my sweet husband here are five things I love about him.
1- He makes me laugh so much. He can be so goofy and doesn't care who may see.
2 - He is the best daddy. Our kids both love him so much. It's a happy time of the day when he gets home.
3 - He is aware of others when we're out and about. He is the first and often the only one to offer help to people in the store or where ever when it looks like they may be struggling.
4 - He is passionate about certain aspects of his life and how he lives.
5 - He loves me for who I am and accepts whatever may come with that.
Love you so much hon!! Happy Valentine's Day. And if you happen to read this, remember I like daisies.

Brylie's New Do

I finally bit the bullet and took Brylie for her first haircut. Her hair is really thin and doesn't look like there is a lot, so I was holding off as long as I could. The different lengths and craziness finally became to much for me, so I knew it was time. I'd been bringing it up to Brylie for the last couple of weeks and she kept saying that she didn't want to get her hair cut. Today I pulled the place up on the computer and showed her the fun "chair" she would get to sit in and she wanted to get her hair cut all of the sudden. The whole cut took less then 10 minutes and she ended up with a really cute do.

She looks a whole lot older to me. Luckily Brandon liked it to since I didn't tell him I was getting her hair cut until after it was done.

Little Bit of Heaven

I love pedicures!!! They are truly a little bit of heaven here on earth. When I need some time to myself and some pampering, I go get a pedicure. I couldn't think of a better thing to do for a sister's night out, so this last Tuesday I took Cari to go experience her first pedicure. Brandon let me drop the kids off for him at his office, so Cari and I had time to grab dinner first. Then we went to a family members (on Brandon's side) school of aesthetics called Acaydia for the pedicures. If you are ever in Provo I highly suggest Acaydia. The first Tuesday of every month they have $10 Tuesday where they do any of the treatments they offer for $10. (In December for a sister in law's birthday the girls went and had pedicures and facials there and it was great!) It was such a fun night and my feet thank us for it! Cari has helped me out last minute so many times and really deserved a night off from everything to. She is such a great sister and I'm happy to have her here in Utah. Cari I hope you enjoyed your first pedicure!

Winter weather Fun

So with all the snow we've had, and a decent hill in our back yard, Brandon decided to help Brylie go sledding. Brylie was so happy to finally be able to go play in the snow. She got all geared up (this time with snow pants) and hurried outside. It took a little bit of coaxing, but Brandon finally got her to the top of the hill and on the little sled.
She had a great time. Brandon went down with her once, and then decided it might be fun to build a little jump. Nothing really happened when Brandon was on the sled with her, but when she insisted to go down by herself, she got a little air.

She had fun and wanted to go down again by herself. I have a little daredevil on my hands. She also threw some snow balls and made a snow angel.

We even bundled Beckam up so he could join in some of the family fun.
All in all we enjoyed some time out in the cold snow. Not something we do to often.
