Gotta Love Utah Spring

So it has been very nice the last few days and then today, the temps plummeted again with the promise of at least rain for the next couple of days. (I'm really hoping there is no snow!) Yesterday the high was 80 and we just couldn't stay inside. I kept forcing Brylie outside as much as I could and Beckam and I joined her a couple of times. I knew this little change in weather was coming, so we needed to get in as much outside time as possible. Beckam enjoyed picking the grass and Brylie ran around, played with Molly (the neighbor's dog), and decorated the back porch with sidewalk chalk.
And today we're back to being bundled up and trying to avoid the cold weather. Gotta love Spring in Utah.

He's gone MOBIL!!

Beckam has been working on moving around more on his own for the last few weeks and now is a whiz at it. The days of leaving him somewhere and him being in the same spot when you got back are long gone. He now does something that resembles a crawl and gets whatever catches his eye. Nothing is safe.

Along with this new found "freedom" come battle wounds. Here's his first one (the scrape by his mouth). He quickly recovered and it didn't deter him from getting what he wanted one bit.

Now if I could just get him to hold his own bottle for longer then 30 seconds and put his binky in his mouth instead of holding his mouth open for me to put it in for him, I'd be set!

Red Butte Garden with Friends

On Friday, Arbor Day, we were invited to go to Red Butte Garden with some friends. It was free admission for the day, I'd never been, and the weather was nice so it sounded like great fun!!! Brylie, Beckam, and I are so glad we went. Daffodils were in bloom which showed me Spring was here even though it wasn't always apparent with all the snow and cold temperatures we've had lately.

Brylie was thrilled to be able to run around and play with other kids. Beckam was just thrilled to be somewhere new and get to watch people. Brylie latched on to one of the little boys, Andrew, in our group. He was so sweet to her and held her hand on demand and helped her go on the stepping stones by a pond.

Brylie and Britton got to spend some time hanging out during the lunch/snack break. Brylie shared some of her snacks after Britton (Viv) so generously shared his. During this break Beckam got some much needed time out of his stroller and happily played on the grass. Brylie was to busy exploring and playing with the other kids to want to spend any real time sitting by and playing with Beckam. (She probably gets more then enough of that at home.)

On the way to our last little garden spot Beckam finally conked out and Brylie lost a little of her steam. After a quick rest on the seat swing we headed back to the entrance and hit the big grass hill for a last few minutes of fun.

The kids took short naps on the way home. After a quick minute at home we headed down to Lehi to have dinner with my mom and sister. My mom was in town to take Cari back to Las Vegas for the summer and asked us to go to dinner. Since I'm so thrilled about cooking, I quickly jumped at the offer. We went to Tepanyaki which was so fun and the kids were on unusually good behavior. It was a great Friday!!

Stylin' Hair

When I had Brylie's hair cut a few months ago I was worried it would never grow long enough to be able to do anything with it other then the little pony tail on top of her head. Well I'm so happy that it has grown and I was able to braid it the other day. Brylie was a trooper and sat so still while I attempted this little hairstyle and I was thrilled that it worked. Who knows what we'll get to work next.

Family Mini Golf Fun

A few Saturdays ago we had really nice weather. Brandon and I thought we should take advantage of it, the next day it was suppose to snow again, so we took the kids and had our first family mini golf experience. Brylie was interested in the golfing part for about 5 holes. With Brandon's help she got a hole in one on the first hole. Of course I missed the photo op. After the next few holes all Brylie wanted to do was play in the play area they had inside. Brandon and I quickly hurried through the remaining 13 holes trying to keep Brylie as close as possible. Beckam just enjoyed the time being outside and watching Brylie run around.

As soon as Brandon and I finished golfing we headed inside and Brylie got her much awaited time playing on the "playground".

Other then the noise inside and having to try and use a bunch of tickets at the prize counter with a less then enthused Brylie, the time out as a family was so much fun!! Now if the weather could just decide to stay nice we might get more outings out as a family.

Brylie Dancing with the Stars

A couple of weeks ago we flipped the channel and Dancing with the Stars came on. Brylie immediately asked if she could dance along. We said of course and she ran upstairs to get her dancing dress. After getting properly outfitted she encouraged Brandon to twirl her a few times and then we were the audience for a 10 minute dance recital.

After this I thought for sure dance lessons would be a hit. Well after trying for a couple of weeks to get her to go and stay in the dance room, we have given up on dance class for the next few months. Well try again when preschool starts. For the time being we'll be happy with our own recitals whenever Brylie gets the urge to dance.

Bathing Beauty and Silly Splasher

I was so happy when the day arrived I could bathe Brylie and Beckam at the same time. The first couple of times didn't go that smoothly, but Beckam quickly realized he needed to stay sitting up in the bath. He then realized how fun splashing is.

He now splashes through the entire bath and loves every minute of it. He's lucky his big sister is so understanding and just goes with it and doesn't splash back too much.

Never been so happy for Hayfever!

So I've been out of the blogging world for awhile. We were hit with another round of sickness that started right around Easter. Since then, I unfortunately, have been in a doctor's office or the ER every week. I was really hoping to make it a week this week without being in either one, but took the kids to the doctor today. (By some miracle they are both asleep right now, so I'm able to write this really quickly.) Everyone of my past trips involved the kids except one which was with Brandon when we found out he has a kidney stone. I won't go into that one, but it hasn't been fun. So Beckam has had a cough since Monday and it just seemed to be getting a little bit worse. His coughs have a tendency to go to croup and then he gunks up and it hangs out in his lungs for awhile. Hoping to avoid the ER this weekend, I decided to take him to the doctor. Brylie has had a cough for a couple of days so I thought I'd get her checked out while we were there. The diagnosis....HAY FEVER!! The doctor said it looked like hay fever and the cough sounded like the hay fever cough. I didn't know you got a cough with hay fever. She sent us on our way with Zyrtec doses for both of them. So if it really is hay fever then the cough shouldn't work it's way down to Beckam's lungs and all should be well in a little while. I'm not real thrilled my kids could suffer from hay fever every year, but I don't think I could have handled another case of bronchilolitis or worse. Now hopefully I'll have a little down time and get caught up with my posts. And if Spring would come and stay, it would be great!!!
