(Yes even Brandon was rescued because if they hadn't been able to get Beckam out, they would have had to do some work on Brandon.)
Setting:
Our House
Plot:
Saturday morning Brandon was cleaning up our garage and taking some stuff to storage. Beckam wanted to be out in the garage as well, so Brandon took him out there and said he would take Beckam with him to the storage unit. About 10 minutes later Brandon comes back in side and while heading to the kitchen says, "Beckam is locked in the car." While he is calling locksmiths I go out to recheck all of the doors. Sure enough Beckam is locked comfortably in the running car. (Thank goodness the parking brake was on and the heater was going.) Beckam is content as can be and steering away and having a great old time.
Meanwhile all of the calls Brandon had made have resulted in at least an hour wait and then the last one told him to call the Police. I don't know why we didn't think of that, but after a quick call we're told a car is coming out as well as the fire department since they are the ones who will get the door open. While we wait the 10 minutes for the rescuers to show up both Brandon and I take a shot at trying to get Beckam to push the right button to unlock the doors.
Beckam humored us for a few tries and then decided it was more fun to turn the hazard lights on and off, make the wipers go, and learn how to put in a cd and take it out of the cd player. The police were the first to arrive and they got out of the car with smiles on their faces. A couple of minutes later the fire truck got to the house. When they see Beckam they just start laughing. He's smiling and waving at them and still having a great time, not realizing that he's caused (along with his dad) all this commotion. One fireman asks, "Do you have a full tank?" When I answered in the affirmative he answered back, "Then he's all set."
Luckily letting the car run out of gas was not acceptable to anyone so within 5 minutes the doors were unlocked, Beckam was out of the car, and the keys were back in Brandon's hand.
Everyone was really nice and the firemen even gave us a tour of their truck with an invite to come down anytime to the station and see their bigger truck.
Brylie missed all of the excitement since she was spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa's but I think she had more fun there then she would have had with two stressed parents. Live and learn!
