In Trouble

So I'm quickly realizing I'm in trouble with this one.
I'm hoping to sprout some extra sets of eyes and arms here soon because I'm going to have to watch him like a hawk and be ready for what ever he may do. My late night shopping trip from which I didn't put the paper towels away, quickly aided in him exploring the front door knob.
Yeah he's not suppose to know how that works for a least another year. (I'm already getting ready to install a higher lock on the door.) And this toy has quickly become a thorn in my side.

Thanks to Beckam, who I have lovingly started calling Captain Destructo, I have to put it back together at least once a day and that's not counting the times I have to put individual parts back on it. (Hindsight, I should have just bought the Fisher Price one.)
He loves to throw anything he can get his hands on, so a few toys have met an untimely demise. And if crayons, pens, or colored pencils are not properly stored away he colors on/in anything he feels like. Then there is his uncanny ability to climb up on anything.
Today I found him standing on the toilet going through my make-up. (That could be another issue down the road.) I'm not sure if it's being a boy or a second child who just wants to keep up with his sister, but it's starting to wear me out! But as long as I get the cuddles, smiles, and laughs in between his fun it's all worth it!

She Shined

Sunday Brylie gave her first talk in primary and she did so good. I was a little worried when she didn't make it through one practice run, but on Sunday she was ready to give her talk. On the way to church I was talking to her about it and told her I would be there to help her. She informed me that she didn't need any help and I responded that she did need some help. She then said her teachers would help her. I asked her, "What about Mommy?" She said, "No, my teachers will help me." So sure enough one of the primary presidency whispered her whole talk to her, she repeated everything and Mom got to be a spectator. I'm so proud of my little Sunbeam!

We Know Who She LOVES

I find at least one of these kind of pictures a day around the house. She is always wanting to draw her dad a picture or card. Dad is the first word Brylie has written correctly by herself. (We're still working on her name. All the letters are there just in a jumbled order.) She is definitely a daddy's girl!

Rescued

Our Saturday Morning
Characters:
The Rescuers -

The Rescuees -
(Yes even Brandon was rescued because if they hadn't been able to get Beckam out, they would have had to do some work on Brandon.)
Setting:
Our House

Plot:
Saturday morning Brandon was cleaning up our garage and taking some stuff to storage. Beckam wanted to be out in the garage as well, so Brandon took him out there and said he would take Beckam with him to the storage unit. About 10 minutes later Brandon comes back in side and while heading to the kitchen says, "Beckam is locked in the car." While he is calling locksmiths I go out to recheck all of the doors. Sure enough Beckam is locked comfortably in the running car. (Thank goodness the parking brake was on and the heater was going.) Beckam is content as can be and steering away and having a great old time.
Meanwhile all of the calls Brandon had made have resulted in at least an hour wait and then the last one told him to call the Police. I don't know why we didn't think of that, but after a quick call we're told a car is coming out as well as the fire department since they are the ones who will get the door open. While we wait the 10 minutes for the rescuers to show up both Brandon and I take a shot at trying to get Beckam to push the right button to unlock the doors.
Beckam humored us for a few tries and then decided it was more fun to turn the hazard lights on and off, make the wipers go, and learn how to put in a cd and take it out of the cd player. The police were the first to arrive and they got out of the car with smiles on their faces. A couple of minutes later the fire truck got to the house. When they see Beckam they just start laughing. He's smiling and waving at them and still having a great time, not realizing that he's caused (along with his dad) all this commotion. One fireman asks, "Do you have a full tank?" When I answered in the affirmative he answered back, "Then he's all set."
Luckily letting the car run out of gas was not acceptable to anyone so within 5 minutes the doors were unlocked, Beckam was out of the car, and the keys were back in Brandon's hand.
Everyone was really nice and the firemen even gave us a tour of their truck with an invite to come down anytime to the station and see their bigger truck.
Brylie missed all of the excitement since she was spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa's but I think she had more fun there then she would have had with two stressed parents. Live and learn!

Kung Foo Fighting

Recently Kung Foo Panda has become a kid favorite at our house. Brylie likes it so much that she has assigned herself along with the rest of us characters from the movie (Brylie is Tigeress, Beckam is Kung Foo Panda, Brandon is Monkey, and I'm Snake) Well Sunday after church I was upstairs doing something and all I could hear from downstairs was Hi-yah, Hi-yah. I look downstairs and there is Brylie practicing her kung foo moves as well as throwing in a couple, "Master." bows. And then Beckam tried to copy his sister and gave a couple kick attempts to Brandon's leg.
It's so fun seeing what they both pick up on at the same time realizing what they may get a little too much of. But hey if Kung Foo Panda makes it so I can get some laundry and cleaning done, I'm all for it!

Who Needs T.V. When You've Got Kids

My kids are quite the little entertainers. In one afternoon I saw a comedian, a fashion show, and some acting all from the comfort of my bedroom, without even turning on the t.v. Beckam kicked off the show with some comedy. I laughed once with the container on his head and he kept coming back for more.
Brylie then graced the hall runway with a fashion show of some of her princess dresses. She involved her audience with some pretend trick or treating (hence the basket). Brylie also decided she would try and get in on the comedy bit for a minute.
The afternoon was topped off with Beckam decided he should be a baby and ride in Brylie's doll stroller with Brylie acting the part of mommy and dragging him all over.
I can't wait for the next performance.

Happy Day

A few days ago Brylie came downstairs to show me a new skill. Low and behold she was in one of her dress-up dresses and I hadn't put her in it. Brylie has learned how to play dress-up all by herself. It is a happy day in our house. Now she can get pretty and be a princess whenever she wants and for how long she wants and I don't have to deal with the constant wardrobe changes and ending her fun when I've had enough. I look forward to many days of princess fun and fashion shows that I now just get to be a spectator for!

A Sunbeam

Today she became one and she liked it so much she wants to be one next week to. Hopefully this trend will continue and she'll love primary for many more years. Now I just have to convince her that primary is just as fun with her shoes on.

Bringing in the New Year - Sick Style

I would love to say that Brandon and I got a babysitter for the kids and hopped from party to party to bring in the New Year, especially after some of the "fun" we've had this year, but with one of us being sick (me) that just didn't happen. I've been experiencing the aches, pains, chills, and fatigue of the flu for the last few days and was in no mood to do anything for New Years. Luckily for my husband and kids, Brandon's brother and wife invited them over for some end of year celebrating. My so, so wonderful husband took both kids (I know he secretly wanted me to keep Beckam, but he didn't say anything) and I spent the night alone curled up in bed. The other party animals got home a little before nine and all of us were cozy in bed by 9:00pm New Year's Eve. I would have loved to send out 2008 with a bang, but some zzzz's were all it got. On to 2009 and may it be a good one!!
